Language Arts K and Language Arts 1 are completely redesigned course versions that embrace Science of Reading learning principles throughout. Courses include:

  • Fully Redesigned Curriculum that focuses on phonemic awareness.
  • Phoneme Demonstration Videos that highlight real-life elementary teachers and students as they practice proper phoneme pronunciation and mouth shapes using kinesthetics, repetition, and play.
  • New Phonemic Interactives that support Science of Reading.
  • Phonics-Rich Multimedia lessons that support phonemic awareness through speech, sounds, fluency checks, interactives, and more.
  • Decodable Texts developed by our Science of Reading experts exclusively for Accelerate Education.

The Semester A portion of both courses are available now. Semester B’s are slated for release in early September. There are new print workbooks to accompany each of these new courses.

Language Arts 12 is a new course version that focuses on British Literature from the Anglo-Saxon period up to Modernism. Students analyze how the English language evolved over time and how events of the time influenced writings for each period. Epics, short stories, poetry, drama, and essays are analyzed in depth to enrich students’ comprehension. Each module includes a style of composition for students to explore with the help of student examples to act as a guide. Students explore fiction and nonfiction of the Victorian Era in addition to applying what they have learned from the course to the study of a novel. The course ends with students practicing and polishing their public speaking and performance skills.

Note that the Independent Study and Adaptive Credit Recovery versions of Language Arts 12 will be released at a later date.

The Canvas and Schoology versions of the above courses are expected to be available on or around July 1st.
