Reinstate a Completed Enrollment
Target Audience: Administrators (Buzz)

Overview
Whenever possible, it’s best to proactively update student end dates and password-protect the Participation folder to avoid prematurely completed enrollments. However, if needed, you can reinstate an enrollment by following the steps below.
Important: These steps must be completed in the exact order listed:
- Update the end date
- Clear the Participation grade
- Mark the Participation assignment as un-complete
- Clear the final grade
- Update the enrollment status
If preferred, you may also contact your Client Service Manager to complete this process on your behalf.
Step 1: Update the End Date
- Navigate to the Courses menu.
- Filter by course title if needed and select the desired course ID.
- Click Enrollments.
- Select the checkbox for each enrollment you want to update.
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Bulk Update.
- Check the box for End Date and enter the appropriate date.
- Do not update the enrollment status yet.
- Check the verification box and click Update.
Step 2: Clear the Participation Grade
- From the main menu, go to the Gradebook.
- Click the gear icon and enable Show inactive enrollments.
- Select the student’s name.
- Ensure Syllabus view is selected.
- Scroll to the bottom and select the Participation grade.
To clear the grade:
- If a rubric was used, clear the individual rubric values.
- If no rubric was used, delete the score and select Override Complete.
Step 3: Mark Participation as Un-Complete
- Select the paper icon that appears.
- Click Uncomplete.
Note: If the student previously submitted the assignment, the paper icon will remain. In this case, inform the teacher that the assignment may appear in their Needs Grading list, but they should not enter a grade until the student completes the course.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for any additional students as needed.
Step 4: Clear the Final Grade
- In the Gradebook, click the wrench icon.
- Select Go to Final Grades.
- Choose Ignore unscored activities.
- Select the checkbox next to the student’s name.
- Click the letter grade and choose the blank grade option.
- Repeat for additional students if needed.
- Click Submit Selected.
- Afterward, select Zero unscored activities.
Step 5: Update Enrollment Status
- Return to the course detail page.
- Click Enrollments.
- Select the checkbox for each applicable enrollment.
- Open the three-dot menu and choose Bulk Update.
- Check the box for Status and set it to Active.
- Check the verification box and click Update.
Verify Reinstatement
- Return to the Gradebook.
- Click the gear icon.
- Uncheck Show inactive enrollments and click Save.
- Confirm that the reinstated student is now visible.
If the student does not appear, contact your Client Service Manager for further assistance.
