Course Settings

Target Audience: Teachers (Buzz)

Overview

Teachers should be familiar with their course settings to ensure their classes run smoothly. Some settings are administrator-managed and should not be changed, while others can be customized to fit classroom needs.

⚙️ Accessing Course Settings

  1. From the Home page, open the Course Editor.
  2. Click the Wrench icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Course Settings from the dropdown menu.

💡 Tip: Always review the settings before making any edits.

🚫 Settings You Should NOT Change

The following settings are managed at the administrative level and should never be modified by teachers:

  • Course Title
  • Course Start and End Dates
  • Blackout Dates
  • Enrollment Completion

⚠️ Changing these settings could cause grading or enrollment issues in your course.

🏫 Settings to Edit Only at Administrator Direction

Certain settings impact school-wide policies and should only be updated with administrator approval:

  • Continuous Course Type
    • Checked: Due dates are added automatically by the platform.
    • Unchecked: The course is a Range type; teachers manually assign due dates.
  • Passing Score and Grade Scale
  • Grading Categories
  • Activating Grading Periods
  • Assigning Zeroes for Late Work

Always confirm with your program or school lead before changing these items.

🎨 Settings You Can Personalize

You have the flexibility to customize some visual aspects of your course:

  • Course Thumbnail Image – Update to reflect your course’s theme or subject.
  • Course Color – Adjust the color to organize courses visually.

🎯 Consider adopting a school-wide color code for consistency.
Example: Science = Green, Social Studies = Blue, Math = Yellow
