Course Settings
Target Audience: Teachers (Buzz)

Overview
Teachers should be familiar with their course settings to ensure their classes run smoothly. Some settings are administrator-managed and should not be changed, while others can be customized to fit classroom needs.
⚙️ Accessing Course Settings
- From the Home page, open the Course Editor.
- Click the Wrench icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Course Settings from the dropdown menu.

💡 Tip: Always review the settings before making any edits.
🚫 Settings You Should NOT Change
The following settings are managed at the administrative level and should never be modified by teachers:
- Course Title
- Course Start and End Dates
- Blackout Dates
- Enrollment Completion
⚠️ Changing these settings could cause grading or enrollment issues in your course.
🏫 Settings to Edit Only at Administrator Direction
Certain settings impact school-wide policies and should only be updated with administrator approval:
- Continuous Course Type –
- Checked: Due dates are added automatically by the platform.
- Unchecked: The course is a Range type; teachers manually assign due dates.
- Passing Score and Grade Scale
- Grading Categories
- Activating Grading Periods
- Assigning Zeroes for Late Work
✅ Always confirm with your program or school lead before changing these items.
🎨 Settings You Can Personalize
You have the flexibility to customize some visual aspects of your course:
- Course Thumbnail Image – Update to reflect your course’s theme or subject.
- Course Color – Adjust the color to organize courses visually.
🎯 Consider adopting a school-wide color code for consistency.
Example: Science = Green, Social Studies = Blue, Math = Yellow
